SARAH: hey what's up, hello welcome to sounds fake but okay a podcast where an aroace girl, I'm Sarah that's me

KAYLA: and a bi demisexual girl, that's me Kayla

SARAH: talk about all things to do with love, relationships, sexuality, and pretty much anything else we just don't understand

KAYLA: on today's episode trans rights

SARAH AND KAYLA: sounds fake but okay

(theme music plays)

SARAH: welcome back to the pod!

KAYLA: I'm going to give a disclaimer right now that I do feel like I'm dying

SARAH: but to be clear you're you're not dying as far as we're aware

KAYLA: not any more than your average person

SARAH: we all are dying slowly

KAYLA: yeah

SARAH: it's a slow march towards death

KAYLA: yeah couldn't be slower as far as I'm aware I don't have an illness but I have had a new ailment every day this week so

SARAH: I did have an illness and my mom had an illness and your dad had an illness

KAYLA: yeah an illness was in new york

SARAH: it does seem I don't know what I have

KAYLA: I do have the ick of Sarah. Sarah was making a lot of upsetting noises into her microphone that I did not care for

SARAH: I don't think they were upsetting

KAYLA: but I was upset

SARAH: I would do it again but I am thoughtful and kind

KAYLA: oh are you yeah?

SARAH: do we have housekeeping? our book continue to buy it I finally bought our merch

KAYLA: yeah I finally got our merch

SARAH: Slay

KAYLA: it was allegedly delivered like a week ago and then one day – my like two days ago my roommate just walked in and had it so I don't know if it was like somewhere I couldn't find it and he found it or if it anyway – it doesn't matter

SARAH: maybe they put it with all your sporting gear

KAYLA: you know what? that's possible we do have a shelf with sporting gear. Also we're going to be doing an event at what's it called?

SARAH: I don't know don't remember

KAYLA: we're doing an event at busboys and poets, which is a bookstore several bookstores but it's one of the locations in washington DC. I will be in person Sarah will be on the computer SARAH: Yep

KAYLA: so if you live in the area it's on april 10th I believe I should have already posted about it on our socials by now but if not it'll be there

SARAH: and don't worry I have acquired some little stickers for me to sign and I'm going to mail them to Kayla so that you can get both of our signatures

KAYLA: yeah so you’ll have my signature on the book and then you'll have a sticker of Sarah’s signature that I will put in your book for you

SARAH: Slay

KAYLA: so that you can have them both

SARAH: I know that's just you're everyone was so concerned about my signature

KAYLA: yeah I know you were all really worried

SARAH: It’s high value

KAYLA: that's what we did for Martin Chiesl we signed a sticky note for Martin

SARAH: We did

KAYLA: Chiesl because he didn't have his book yet and we said here you go

SARAH: what a martin, alright. are there tickets for that event? How does that work?

KAYLA: you do have to rsvp there's like an eventbrite page it is free but you do have to rsvp beforehand I believe

SARAH: do I have to?

KAYLA: I would guess not since you're just going to be on a computer

SARAH: okay cool

KAYLA: yeah also I think they like it's a full like restaurant and bookstore which is crazy

SARAH:  I mean it's busboy yeah

KAYLA: so you can eat food also

SARAH: go off

KAYLA: that's pretty cool

SARAH: just don't get it on your book I'm too messy for that I would not be able to do it

KAYLA: yeah I know

SARAH: alright so Kayla what are we talking about this week?

KAYLA: this week we're talking about trans rights and how they're a thing that should continue to exist

SARAH: please so true this is in light of a lot of things happening in the United States that are attacks on trans people of all sorts and stripes and I don't want to assume that everyone here knows what I'm talking about so I looked up a thing that was to the point and conveyed what's going on and I found an msnbc article from two days ago. Are you ready?

KAYLA: I'm very ready because I am not as informed as you about the news so I'm excited to get 100 up to date

SARAH:it is by Hayes Brown msnbc opinion writer/editor okay the title is called the odds are getting worse for trans americans. Great. Three months into 2023 nearly 300 bills designed to discriminate against transgender people have been introduced in state houses across the country according to a tracker from equality federation, an lgbtq rights non-profit this is an increase compared to this time in

(05:00)

SARAH: 2022 at which point nearly 240 anti-lgbtq bills have been filed most of them targeting trans people it's still not good 240 last year still a lot

KAYLA: That’s a lot actually

SARAH: a review from the human rights campaign found that fewer than one in ten of last year's 315 anti-equality bills became law but this essay is not about those bills that die quiet ignoble deaths this is about the ones that don't and then there's some nice prose that I'm not going to get into. To great applause Michael Knowles a daily wire commentator told a CPAC audience last weekend everyone say boo cpac

KAYLA: Boo

SARAH: Where right wing trolls gather

KAYLA: yeah

SARAH:  anyway he said quote there can be no middle way in dealing with transgenderism

KAYLA: Oh

SARAH: it is all or nothing he said that for quote the good of society and especially for the good of poor people who have fallen prey to this confusion

KAYLA: What

SARAH: transgenderism must be eradicated from public life entirely the whole preposterous ideology unquote and then it you know just goes to talk about how there is no ideology under debate it's literally just people people are using trans people as a way to spread misinformation about grooming and pedophilia uh the whole moral threat blah blah blah blah 18 states have passed laws that ban trans students from playing school sports on the teams in line with their gender identities Tennessee governor Bill Lee last week signed into law a bill that categorizes quote male or female impersonators as adult cabaret entertainment and bars their appearance on public property or anywhere they can be seen by minors. So that means no drag queens at pride is what that means

KAYLA: yeah

SARAH: and a lot of other things but. So it's about some other stuff but a lot of shit’s being brought into government people trying to pass shit and being horrible and being the worst and so I think we need to just talk about it because it's been happening so much. It’s bad.

KAYLA: yeah I've seen a lot of tiktoks about it recently I think florida either has or is in the process of passing a law that bans like gender studies majors?

SARAH: yeah it's unhinged

KAYLA: which is wild I also forget which ap test it is but there's is

SARAH: it the the black history one like the new like ap african-american history?

KAYLA: it must be that, like the college board which is the organization that runs ap tests and exams like took a bunch of stuff out of the curriculum for a lot of the classes because they like legally can't like some schools legally can't teach it anymore so it wouldn't be fair to have it in like a country-wide test if so that

SARAH:  that must be for multiple ap classes actually. I was thinking of them

KAYLA: no it's probably I'm sure it's

SARAH: before it was announced yeah

KAYLA: I'm sure it's in a lot of ap classes like a lot of history classes and stuff but yeah so like that's happening and yeah I saw a lot of very upsetting tiktoks of people being like it was not the drag queens in my community that like took advantage of me it was my like youth group leader or my minister and all of this just like incredibly upsetting in so many different ways

SARAH: it's all these right-wingers who are trying to paint trans people as dangerous and a threat to american morality

KAYLA: like you said it's like a moral panic and it's just people looking at something that they can't wrap their heads around for whatever reason and trying to use it to leverage their power and like there's no…

SARAH: it's fear-mongering

KAYLA: and there's like no sense to it like you try to sit there and think like okay why are they doing this? But like there's no common sense in any of it like there's no making sense of why

SARAH: yeah there's just a ton of anti-trans rhetoric I thought it would be apt to just kind of talk about these issues in the context of the aspec community

KAYLA: Mm

SARAH: because there's a lot of overlap, a lot of people who identify as both, a lot of stuff to talk about so we're going to start with the first thing I thought of not because it's the best thing to start with but because it's the first thing I thought of. There was this tweet the other day that my friend sent to me, it is from gaynotqueer on twitter and it shows an image of lgb and the tiqa plus

with like scissors cutting in between the lgb and the tqa plus and they said this isn't a debate the divorce is happening lgb without the t and this person said

 (10:00)

SARAH: “yeah fuck those perverts in the check notes asexual community?” which thank you twitter user @leftatlondon, but I think this is an interesting to talk about thing to talk about because there has been a rise in people being vocal emboldened by I don't know fucking JK Rowling, but like gay usually men usually white gay men trying to claim that trans is not a part of their community which is absolute bullshit

KAYLA: because their community was built on trans people like

SARAH: yes

KAYLA: those are the people who carved painstakingly

SARAH: Marsha P Johnson and Sylvia Rivera were fucking throwing bricks at

KAYLA: yeah

SARAH: at stonewall

KAYLA: like none of us would be able to exist without trans people none like aspec community included like this would not be happening

SARAH: I'm just looking at like some things. They've said in their replies tq isn’t a sexuality and harming gay acceptance because it's grouped with us no more misrepresentation we aren't all the same community because of our dating and sex life

KAYLA: it's just like the same thing about like oh like I'm quote unquote normal just like you like don't lump me with like it's just like white, gay men trying to gain acceptance

SARAH: they think it'll be easier to gain acceptance if they like

KAYLA: They think it’ll make them more like palatable or

SARAH: yeah from the more quote unquote controversial part of the community but that's bullshit because that quote unquote controversial part of the community is a foundational part of the reason that gays even have rights to begin with in america and it's bullshit and it makes me so angry and it's also people just trying to be intentionally incendiary just because it gets clicks and it gets people like us to interact with it which

KAYLA: yeah here we are

KAYLA: yeah it is interesting seeing a lot of this on the rise at the same time that JK Rowling is like kind of back again in the public eye like at the same time, and it almost makes me wonder like is she back in the public eye because all this stuff is happening and so people are more aware of it? Or is – are people kind of using her as a distraction? Because it feels like so many people are so focused on her and as they should be like she is a piece of shit transphobe

SARAH: She’s a piece of trash

KAYLA: and we should not be giving like buying her games or her movies and like giving her more money but it's also like it's I think pretty and like obviously more important to be discussing legislation and like things that are actually happening but it feels like a lot of the focus is on people like her instead

SARAH: yeah because it's it's easy to put the focus on a white woman who

KAYLA: yeah like and I feel like I have fallen into that too it's easier to talk about her because SARAH: than the systemic problem

KAYLA: yes

SARAH: yeah absolutely

KAYLA: to do something about her it's easier to to be like yes I will not buy her game or whatever like that's an easy like performative almost thing to do rather than like yeah you're looking at all these laws being put into place and it's like what am I one single person supposed to do about that?

SARAH: yeah especially if you don't live in the states or the countries or the the regions where this stuff is being enacted

KAYLA: yeah

SARAH: another thing just that made me go huh about the lgb without the tqia plus blah blah blah that so you're so you accept bi people but not pan people?

KAYLA: yeah I was surprised that they didn't cut the b off too

SARAH: Honestly same

KAYLA: because I feel like people like that usually also hate buy people I think they just liked the rhyme of like lgb without the t I feel like yeah only kept us bis around for the rhyme

SARAH: yeah I don't know I'm just like all right so separating the bisexuals from the pans jeez okay

KAYLA: that's a weird area not obviously that bi and pan people are the same, but like a weird place to draw the line

SARAH: yeah because there's a there's a lot of overlap in those communities and some people  will interchangeably use both words yeah so it's like what are you doing

KAYLA: I think they just really liked that rhyme

SARAH: yeah

KAYLA: that's silly of them

SARAH: so that's one thing I wanted to just hit on

KAYLA: yeah

SARAH: if you see any I won't even call them queers because they don't want to call themselves queer any gay people hating on trans people, kick them in the nards

KAYLA: well

(15:00)

SARAH: physically or metaphorically I mean I can't I – I don't condone physical violence wink

KAYLA: however – however

SARAH: they deserve it anyway

KAYLA: also we're allowed to say things on this podcast that we aren't allowed to say in say, a book so

SARAH: yeah so

KAYLA: it's fine a

SARAH: a quick thing I would just like to say that our book was published in the uk

KAYLA: and they have very strict libel laws in the uk

SARAH: They do,  and so there are things that we can say on this podcast

KAYLA: that legally we were prohibited from saying in say a book we published.

SARAH:  in a book perhaps. Perhaps we said something a little bit harsher about a public figure

KAYLA: in draft one

SARAH: and we were told we had to tone it down for legal reasons

KAYLA: so just keep that in mind

SARAH: yeah just people go ahead and keep that in the little, little back your little head

KAYLA: yeah

SARAH: because our publisher could get sued

KAYLA: so just have some nuance anyway

SARAH: and that woman loves to sue people

KAYLA: yeah anyway anyway but we could say whatever we want here so yeah

SARAH: fuck that bitch

KAYLA:  ruining my life in so many ways anyway

SARAH: anyway the thing I wanted to hit on is something also from our book

KAYLA: oh my god crazy

SARAH: which is just the fact that within aspect communities there is a higher ratio of trans and gender non-conforming people than in other communities

KAYLA: yeah

SARAH: we have some specific numbers on this in our book that we got from I think the trevor project

KAYLA: yeah let me see if I can find…

SARAH:  but they were fascinating and like clear like it wasn't just like oh that you know there could be something like it was there was there was a very distinct correlation between the percentage of people who self-identified as trans gender non-conforming or questioning their gender who were aspec versus not aspec and so I think trans issues in particular especially affect our community because there there are so many trans and and I want to say gmc but then I think of the health store?

KAYLA: yeah

SARAH: and so but there anyway so many trans and gender non-conforming people in our community

KAYLA: I found it

SARAH: and like we have to we have to protect them in the same way that we try and protect ourselves even if we ourselves are cis

KAYLA: yeah so according to the trevor project this is from their 2020

SARAH: 20

KAYLA: yeah their I think their 2020 survey

SARAH: I wrote this part I think it was 2020

KAYLA: okay excuse me so they found that a larger proportion of asexual youth were transgender or non-binary compared to the overall sample of lgbtq youth so in their overall sample 25 percent of lgbtq youth were trans or non-binary and nine percent were questioning but 41 percent of asexual youth were trans or non-binary and 13 percent were questioning so SARAH: that's more than half

KAYLA: yes so just a much bigger proportion than average which if you've read our book we get into like

SARAH: why that might be why that might be

KAYLA: and just like the differences of being a trans or non-binary aspec person anyway but the the point is is that trans issues are aspec issues

SARAH: Yes

KAYLA: because even for those of us like Sarah and I who are cis this is a huge thing impacting our community and so it's our job to do what we can big or small

SARAH: Mhm

KAYLA: to help understanding that like you might not have the ability to do a lot from your position like whether that be because of like your family situation or where you live or money or how old you are that kind of thing but

SARAH: or if it's because you're stuck in a moat

KAYLA: that would do it

SARAH: with like a gator and like your legs stuck in the mud

KAYLA: yeah

SARAH: which one's more dangerous? I know that an alligator crocodile one of them is like markedly more dangerous

KAYLA: I want to say…

SARAH: no because there there's only a small portion of the world where both exist and I saw I saw a tweet recently about how someone was like passing by and they saw one and they were like oh that's fine and then they realized it was the other and they were like fuck I think it was in florida

KAYLA: crocodiles

(20:00)

KAYLA: are more aggressive than alligators

SARAH: are crocodiles the ones that are bigger? Well gators because florida that one college they're gators it must be gators that are that are smaller I mean florida does like

KAYLA: the alligator versus crocodile six key differences and who wins in a fight

SARAH: I have absolutely read that article before

KAYLA: on atozanimals.com

SARAH: (laughing) yes

KAYLA: this is not the point of this episode

SARAH: no but sometimes you gotta

KAYLA: this is some levity for this this god-awful shit we're talking about

SARAH: yeah a fucking a light detour to talk about deadly animals

KAYLA: yeah yeah

SARAH: okay just just look hey siri I'm trying hey siri

KAYLA: okay wait

SARAH: hey siri

KAYLA: wait I found it shut up okay. Alligators are eight to eleven feet long 400 to 800 pounds crocodiles are 10 to 20 feet long 300 to 2000 pounds yeah and

SARAH: I think gators are the ones where if you get their mouth shut right like all it takes is like two fingers and they can't

KAYLA: alligators do have more teeth I’ll tell you that

SARAH: okay well crocodiles are way more aggressive

SARAH: anyway I wouldn't recommend coming across either

KAYLA: oh alligators are only in two places in the world crocodiles are in way more places

SARAH: and one of them is florida

KAYLA: yeah one of the places that have both is florida

SARAH: is florida

KAYLA: of course it is

SARAH: because it's florida so of course they have fucking bad laws they have bad laws about trans people

KAYLA: trans people and alligators

SARAH: and abortion and alligators and crocodiles

KAYLA: literally hell on earth but you know what they do have?

KAYLA: disney world

SARAH: I wasn't going to say that

KAYLA: what were you going to say?

SARAH: I can't remember the name of his character Manny Jacinto's character on the good place what's up donkey dog what's up?

KAYLA: jason?

SARAH: Jason Mendoza! Florida has Jason Mendoza, a fictional character. What more can you ask for?

KAYLA: not much apparently and donkey dog

SARAH: I mean come on anyway I also the last thing I have on my list of things to talk about in in the context of trans issues is the aspec lens

KAYLA: vague

SARAH: yeah

KAYLA: that's helpful

SARAH: what was I thinking?

KAYLA:  the book I guess

SARAH: I was driving in the car well I mean well this is uh I was going to say this earlier and then we got distracted by crocodiles people like people in the aspec community like you often don't need to tell them you should have empathy for other people because they get that yeah or you just have to be like hey this situation is just like when allos are bitches to you I don't know go oh right and so like it's not like we're here telling you like you aren't doing enough like that's not what the purpose of this episode is I think this purpose the purpose of this episode is just to talk about the shit that's going on and you know if we got the crocodiles on our side do you think they can be tamed?

KAYLA: no

SARAH: like can we have like a domesticated croc?

KAYLA: I mean I'm sure some people have

SARAH: and they probably killed them like tiger king

KAYLA: yeah probably

SARAH: did any of them die in tiger king or they just lose an arm?

KAYLA: and one person lost an arm I don't think anyone died though

SARAH: but big cats –

KAYLA: except for that lady's husband who's allegedly alive now?

SARAH: carole baskin

KAYLA: but apparently her husband apparently he's alive and like no one's talking about it I don’t know

SARAH: I don't know

KAYLA: anyway

SARAH: anyway no I just I think the you know the things that we learn through the aspec lens which you can read all about in our book is it's there's I had I really I know I had a thought here what was it?

KAYLA: I bet you did. You wrote a whole chapter on gender for a book I'm sure you have a lot of thoughts, also this whole episode is not a plug to read our book

SARAH: it's not

KAYLA: it's just that we did a lot we have a very extensive chapter on gender so

SARAH: yeah we we thought a lot about it

KAYLA: So it’s just easy to reference

SARAH: yeah I guess this is just another reason why spreading evangelizing the aspec lens spreading the good word of our lord and savior, benevolent god of asexuality and aromanticism

(25:00)

SARAH: is so important because once bitches have that little lens screwed to their eyeballs they're going to be like oh gender isn't fucking real, none of this fucking matters, and so much of the the hatred and the malice could be significantly helped by just demystifying like what all of this means and what all of it is and educating people on like what it actually is to be trans or non-binary or whatever, but they would have to be willing to listen first and that's a hurdle

KAYLA: yeah I think it's hard because gender is so ingrained into the power structure of our world in general and absolutely in the government, in health care and sports and just so many incredibly like expensive areas of our life

SARAH: yeah that expensive is a good word to include there because that is crucial

KAYLA: yeah that like, you know, unfortunately it does make sense that this is where like lawmakers are trying to make their stand because like if we start to break down gender in that way then the powers that be do lose a bit of control over us

SARAH: then their own hegemony, hegemony whatever you want to call it is threatened

KAYLA: yeah

SARAH: and their whole thing is maintaining power and maintaining control and maintaining fear of the masses and so they will do whatever it takes to get that

KAYLA: which is I mean like the same way that you could think about why a lot of people like don't understand or hate aspec people because the institution of marriage, the like sure bet you can have that sex will sell that you can sway people using sex and money and drugs. You start taking some of those things away and then that's one less thing you can use and like obviously this is getting like very doomsday and like conspiracy and whatever but like, it's true.

SARAH: it's also just like the world we live in well and I think it is interesting that you mentioned like the whole sex sells thing because honestly I think that's related

KAYLA: Yeah

SARAH: to the attack on trans rights because they're trying to make it into this like oh they're pedophiles it's

KAYLA: yeah

SARAH: it's a like do you want a man in your women's bathroom like the implication being that well men sexually assault women

KAYLA: Right

SARAH: therefore and so like it really a lot of it does come down to sex in the end and that's – I hate it yeah I hate it

KAYLA: yeah because it's conflating sex and gender and gender roles and like it's they're so close to the point of like you're making the point that you're concerned about men assaulting women

SARAH: yeah

KAYLA: but you're like just missing it by being incredibly offensive

SARAH: yeah I saw a video recently of there is this mom on the beach and her 13 year old daughter was with her wearing a bathing suit because they're on the beach and there is this other mom who is there with her like six-year-old son or something, and this other mom starts like yelling at first mom because her daughter is showing too much skin and like her son has to see that, her six-year-old son has to see that and how like that's wrong and whatever and the argument was fucking unhinged, and then like the person with the unhinged woman was like trying to calm things down, but like the unhinged woman was like digging her heels in harder and eventually she ended up saying, like not even implying, saying that if her son in the future rapes someone it is the fault of girls like this 13 year old girl who was wearing a bathing suit on the beach. She literally said that. She said if he becomes a rapist

KAYLA: cool

SARAH: and it's like maybe you should address the fucking problem

KAYLA: yeah

SARAH: which is that you think it's this random fucking girl's fault if you're kidding why are you even putting that into the universe?

KAYLA: yeah

SARAH: like what the fuck is wrong with you

KAYLA: yeah

SARAH: yeah but oh no trans people with their fucking

(30:00)

SARAH: drag queen story hours ruining the children

KAYLA: and it's like you compare it to the media that we know children are consuming and it's like you walk into a public school it's like disgusting

SARAH: yeah

KAYLA: it is not a drag queen and lip syncing to Britney Spears that is teaching your child about all of this shit like

SARAH: No. Well and people like to get all in a fuss about the media that's available to kids and I understand that with the internet and tiktok and the influx how much easier it is now to get information kids can get access to more just like quantity wise, way more stuff than they used to be able to but like I don't know if you saw that video recently where like I don't know Kim Kardashian basically just like rented Ice Spice to entertain her children

KAYLA: yeah

SARAH: and northwest was like singing along to like the words of the the boy the liar song which has some like inappropriate lyrics for a child and someone was like this is horrible and whatever like she should not be doing like this is what kids are being exposed to these days and someone was like yeah and when I was her age I knew all the lyrics to like nicki minaj like whatever like it's not new

KAYLA: it's not new and then you also see that like there are 10 year old boys who like follow and know exactly who Andrew Tate is and it's like no one is concerned about that like?

SARAH: it's really interesting I saw a video I think this is the first time I ever watched a full Andrew Tate video the other day

KAYLA: I have never watched a single one so good for me

SARAH: he was – it was an old video um obviously because he's in prison yeah and he apparently has lung cancer. Don't smoke, kids. Don’t vape

KAYLA: (laughing) I did not know that.

SARAH: well no they like his representative said that he had like he he's malnourished like the the conditions of prison are

KAYLA: oh yes I did yeah

SARAH:  that's fucking prison and then they were like um like he has lung cancer but then like he denied that I don't know it was weird well

KAYLA: yeah an alpha male wouldn't have lung cancer

SARAH: exactly they're too strong um hot take vaping is bad okay you don't know all the effects of it yet because it's new but y'all anyway oh there was this video where he was talking about this poll he put on twitter where the poll was would you rather fuck a trans woman who was a 10 or a cis woman who is a 1 he did not use those words because he doesn't know words

KAYLA: what the fuck?

SARAH: yeah and most people were saying they would rather fuck a cis woman who was a 1 out of 10 and he said – he took he took a pro trans stance in the most misogynistic way possible KAYLA: Oh god

SARAH: and he said that all of those people are you know tiny brain because he was like imagine it's like megan fox with a dick versus hulk hogan with a pussy and you want to fuck hulk hogan with a pussy over megan fox with a dick

KAYLA: what

SARAH: and it was like somehow somehow you took a somewhat trans affirming position

KAYLA: (laughing) I don't know if I would call any of that trans affirming but okay

SARAH: and then people were arguing because then people were like no a man's a man a woman’s a woman the fuck but it was just like like this is the shit they talk about and this is the shit that they are normalizing yeah and that is why so much of this legislation is on the rise because this is what people are seeing and watching and hearing about in the dark right-wing corners of the internet that are growing larger by the day. Also, why did they put all of the imprisoned january 6th people like imprisoned together?

KAYLA: yeah they're going to they're going to come out in the most wild gang ever

SARAH: I saw a video of something about them doing something in prison and someone was like why why why are they all together

KAYLA: yeah I bet they're going to come out with a fucking plan

SARAH: anyway trans rights are so important to protect

(35:00)

SARAH and to build upon and and fuck Ron DeSantis fuck who’s that texas guy? Greg Abbott fuck that too. They just like to attack to make themselves feel powerful and we can't let them do that anyway do you have anything else to add?

KAYLA: no it's just like it's sad to see how history repeats itself

SARAH: Over and over again

KAYLA: like this I feel like this happens every generation with both the same and different things of like this is this generation's moral panic and what people are going to try to grasp on to desperately to make things go back to the way they were and to stop things from like becoming more modern and inclusive

SARAH: Yeah. I almost feel like feel like this generation it's it's tough saying this generation because the people freaking out are like boomers

KAYLA: yeah

SARAH: and like there are absolutely young people there are fucking Andrew Tates of the world, but like they're being fed

KAYLA: yeah

SARAH: by the boomers by the old people yeah and they're being brought up by those people and being you know whatever obviously there are bad people at any age but well not children are just well disagreement

KAYLA: (laughing) you'll never know can a child be inherently evil? we don't know

SARAH: we disagree I don't know but  what was I got so distracted I don't know what I was saying

KAYLA: the boomers and the children

SARAH: boomers oh I feel like going forward these moral panics are going to happen more and more often like we're going to have multiple a generations because there's so much information KAYLA: yeah

SARAH: moving all the fucking time

KAYLA: yeah

SARAH: in every corner of the earth except for the ones that don't have internet access and we should help them get internet access because not so they can engage in these stupid fucking conversations but you know human rights reasons the internet is helpful for say – anyway. Anyway my high horse is just… I’m in a little ball up here

KAYLA: no it's true the information moves so much faster than it used to and like technology is moving so much faster and we are just becoming more and more like modern by the minute and so yeah that is hard for people to grasp

SARAH: Yeah

KAYLA: and it's going to make people that want to control power freak out because the more information that your average person has the less power like rich people have

SARAH: yeah and so that's why those like right-wing groups are trying to taint the information and sell everything as a conspiracy, so that even when people get accurate information they don't believe it's true

KAYLA: yeah

SARAH: or they choose to not believe it's true because it's easier for them that way in conclusion trans people good, and obviously not every individual trans person is like the Dalai Lama we get it. Nuance but you know who's a bitch? Ron DeSantis

KAYLA: I've heard

SARAH: also AI is bad. Anyway

KAYLA: okay alright let's wrap it up

SARAH: (laughing) What’s our poll for this week?

KAYLA: I don't know

SARAH: I mean this is a downer of a question but like do you live in a place or a region where trans rights are under attack? It’s a real downer

KAYLA: I don't want to ask a depressing thing let's –

SARAH: yeah

KAYLA: let's ask people what is your experience as a trans or not gender nonconforming aspec person

SARAH: that's so much better well it could also be a huge downer but

KAYLA: yeah but it's not explicitly not

SARAH:  it's not bringing us in with the downer perspective

KAYLA: Yeah.

SARAH: too my brain is just doing funky stuff tonight. Alright cool. Not cool but you get it. Kayla what is your beef in your juice this week

KAYLA: my beef and juice my beef is that I feel like shit

SARAH: Yep that’ll do it

KAYLA: I feel like shitties I almost threw up this morning

SARAH: Yucko

KAYLA: for many reasons. Anyway my juice is that I had Ethiopian food this evening it slaps you get to eat with your hands

SARAH: I mean you always get to eat with your hands

KAYLA: I guess yeah you always have the option to eat with your hands but like

SARAH: Unless you don't have hands

KAYLA: yeah okay anyway you're meant to eat with your hands

(40:00)

KAYLA: and eating with your hands is –

SARAH: unless you don't have hands hey that's that's

KAYLA: I'm done I'm done you go I'm sinking into my chair. I'm done for the episode

SARAH: my beef is that I accidentally killed one of my chopsticks

KAYLA: and your friend and your best friend yeah was laying here dead in her chair

SARAH: yeah, yeah my juice hold on I think you'll want to be a part of this juice are you ready?

KAYLA: yeah, we'll see about that

SARAH: look what I acquired Kayla. Do you know what this is?

KAYLA: yeah I saw your Snapchat

SARAH: tell the people what this is

KAYLA:  it's one of them mini vacuums for your desk

SARAH: it's a tiny desk vacuum and I can vacuum things up with it let me just I won't put it too close to the mic but

KAYLA:  I can't hear it yet it

SARAH:  okay well they can, and I can vacuum things up with it and it's a nice little mint sort of color like a bluish

KAYLA: that's better than what I do on my desk which is just wipe it onto the floor
